Background
Kate has a first degree in French and Spanish. Before training to be psychotherapist she worked as a television producer, travelling extensively to film and interview using her foreign languages. Having children prompted a move from London to the South West where she subsequently retrained as a teacher, before embarking on a career in counselling and psychotherapy. She has worked as Group Facilitator for Wessex Counselling Services Foundation and Diploma training, as well as tutoring on all modules of the Psychotherapy MA at BCPC. She became Course Leader for Psychotherapy at BCPC in 2019, and joined the faculty at the Centre for Supervision, Training and Development in 2020. She has been running her private practice in Bath for the past 15 years.
Personal Interests
Kate is interested in the nature of psychotherapeutic change; how the therapeutic relationship provides a space to be able to explore painful or difficult feelings, to be interested in unhelpful patterns of behaviour or relating, and to work together on finding meaning, awareness and connection.
Writing
Kate is inspired by the stories that we carry within us and the co-created narratives that emerge through relationship. She finds poetic expression particularly useful in supporting heuristic, imaginal and embodied research methodologies. Her poetry depicts emotional landscapes and relational processes that are both personal and universal.
